In the opening round of the Hockey East playoff, #8 seed BU will host #9 seed Providence at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is at 6 p.m. for the contest that will be live-streamed on ESPN+.
A year removed from winning the 2025 conference championship, it’s been a challenging season for the Terriers who bring a 10-20-3 record into the game. Last weekend, they defeated Providence 3-1 and were shut out by BC, 4-0.
Back in November, BU defeated the Friars 4-1 and then tied them 2-2, gaining a shootout win.
In the win vs. PC, Maeve Kelly scored the game-winner on a third period power play and also contributed assist, earning Hockey East Defender of the Week honors. Lexie Bertelsen and Luisa Welcke, back from the Olympics, also scored for BU. Goalie Michelle Pasiechnyk came up big with 41 saves.
“At the end of the day we have good goaltending, and if we make ourselves really hard to eliminate and play the right way, we have enough skill that we will score,” Coach Tara Watchorn told the Boston Hockey Blog after the BC loss. “I have no doubt about that.”

Men prep for BC series
With three regular-season games remaining, BU sits in seventh place in the Hockey East standings, a point behind Maine and three points behind Northeastern and UMass.
Next up is a home-and-home with second place BC that begins Friday at Agganis Arena. Terriers will be seeking to improve their tournament seeding and build momentum for the post-season.
