After a series of teasers and car confirmation, it will have a 25th March 2026 release.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s sixth season is inbound, with a confirmed release date of Wednesday, 25th March 2026.
The much-heralded update is another crucial patch for the open-world online driving game, with six cars and a raft of quality-of-life changes included.
Another gameplay type will also be included – detective missions. One of the key criticisms of the title at launch, back in 2024, was a lack of challenge variety. Over the ensuing months, several additional elements have been added, such as delivery and taxi tasks.
Later this week, the spy-like tasks will be introduced. Originally voted for by the TDU SC community, and seen in 2011’s Test Drive Unlimited 2, there are set to be varied types, such as acting as paparazzi or working out if someone is cheating on their partner.
Each has custom narrative elements, as you trailer another car across Hong Kong – providing the Traxion team flashbacks to the original Driver. However, there is also an element of wiretapping in set areas during each mission.
15 detective missions will be included on day one, with another 15 arriving in the first post-release patch (release date unknown).
The mission structure will also change in the future. Currently, only distance is a mission parameter, but others, such as crashing during the mission, will be factored in, plus what’s touted as a ‘Detection State System’.
More cars, further changes
Elsewhere in the update, northern districts and some southern intersections of the map will receive a visual and detail refresh, you can now walk around new clothing stores, Alyss’ GPS voice should be more natural and there are new NPC voices in casinos.
Six new cars will become available, with a body kit-modified Dodge Viper arriving in the mid-season patch. Customisation elements by Michelin, Audi Sport Performance Parts and BMW M Performance are also included.
For those on Xbox Series X, resolution will be 1440p in performance mode, a bump, and this is set to arrive for PlayStation 5 players at a later date.
The previously published roadmap for the game has been adjusted, with expected dates removed. The KT Racing development team states it will take longer now between each season to “improve the overall QA and polish of the game’s releases.”
Looking further ahead, Japanese vehicles are set for Season 7 ahead of the all-important real estate in Season 8. Full patch notes for Season 6 are expected on the day of its release, with numerous further fixes and changes.
