Top Batting Pairs with Multiple Double Century Stands in ODIs

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli top the list of pairs with the most 200-plus runs partnerships in ODIs.

They have a total of five 200-plus run partnerships in ODIs, four of which came in the first innings, the most by a pair.

The popular Indian pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly is the only pair to have two 250-plus run ODI partnerships.

Sri Lanka’s Upul Tharanga and South Africa’s Hashim Amla featured in two or more 200-plus run partnerships with three different partners.


Location and Innings-Specific ODI Partnership Records

Three of the 200-plus stands between Sharma and Kohli came in India, the most 200-plus run partnerships by a pair at home in ODIs.

All three 200-plus stands between Tendulkar and Ganguly came in away-from-home conditions, the most by a batting pair in ODIs.

Tharanga had two 200-plus run partnerships with Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene each while chasing in ODIs.

All those partnerships featuring Tharanga while chasing came in successful run chases.

Tharanga’s 286-run stand with Jayasuriya against England in 2006 is the highest by a pair in a run chase in ODI cricket.

Desmond Haynes and Viv Richards were the first pair to stitch a 200-plus run stand in an ODI innings.

The West Indies pair put 205 runs together for the second wicket against Australia at the MCG in 1979.


Individual and Aggregate Partnership Milestones

Virat Kohli has featured in eight partnerships of 200 or more runs, the most by a batter in ODI cricket.

Rahul Dravid is the only batter to have been part of two 300-plus run partnerships in ODI cricket.

Ganguly and Tendulkar also shared the most century partnerships in ODIs, having stitched 26 100-plus run stands together.

Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara are the other pair with 20 century partnerships in this format.

Ganguly and Tendulkar forged together 8227 runs, the most partnership runs by a pair in ODI cricket.
