The Bookshelf Conversations #205: An Artistic Tripleheader

The Bookshelf Conversations #205: An Artistic Tripleheader

SABR Day is fast approaching.

The Elysian Fields Chapter (Northern New Jersey) will hold its annual event at historic Hinchcliffe Stadium in Paterson, NJ, on Saturday, February 7. The roster of guests includes artists Todd Radom, Ellen Lindner, and Brian Kong.

Each of the trio has their own unique niche and I am not competent to adequately describe their work so I thought to let them do it themselves.

I have “conversed” with Radom for his book, Winning Ugly: A Visual History of Baseball’s Most Unique Uniforms, (pre-Covid so audio only) and will do so in the near future for his new one, The Ballpark and Beyond: An Illustrated Celebration of Baseball’s Rich History, which is due out in May.

Lindner’s niche is the often neglected story of baseball that doesn’t involve men while Kong is more known for his work in comics and cards.

The event begins at 10 a.m.  There is a $10 suggested donation to attend (payable at the door) and reservations are required.  Reserve your spot by calling (862) 385-1240, e-mailing muth-museum@montclair.edu, or by registering online.
