Brooks asks that we rename the series the Brooks Run Guide and Waleed was the first test (new links, the whole kabosh).

In watching the interview a second time, some new discussions came to mind that we thought you just might enjoy seeing

pointed out!

  • Waleed Suliman went to Ole Miss in college, where he learned what ‘purposeful training’ was all about.
  • Under Danny Mackey, Waleed focuses on the 1,500 meter during outdoors and the 3,000 meters indoors.
  • In high school, Waleed started as a soccer player, then moved to running.
  • His first love in running? Cross-country!
  • In high school in Virginia, Waleed had a meet they called the #PolarBear Meet!
  • Running in high school was pretty low mileage.
  • In high school, Waleed ran 4:04 for the 1600meters/Mile, and 1:49 for the 800 meters
  • Waleed studies History and Arabic Studies in college
  • Waleed was born in Jordan and speaks fluent Arabic
  • His parents were support of his sports, but school always came first
  • Waleed has a great sense of humor and loves to travel
  • He celebrated the end of 2025 season by running a trail 50 kilometer race, that is 33 times his normal race distance!
  • Waleed Suliman’s Outdoor personal bests: 3:33.82 for 1,500 meters (2024), 3:51.86 for One Mile (2024), 1:47 for the 800 meters (2021)
  • Waleed Suliman’s Indoor personal bests: 7:39.39 for 3000 meters (2025), and 3:55.60 for One Mile (2021)

  • Larry Eder has had a 52-year involvement in the sport of athletics. Larry has experienced the sport as an athlete, coach, magazine publisher, and now, journalist and blogger. His first article, on Don Bowden, America’s first sub-4 minute miler, was published in RW in 1983. Larry has published several magazines on athletics, from American Athletics to the U.S. version of Spikes magazine. He currently manages the content and marketing development of the RunningNetwork, The Shoe Addicts, and RunBlogRun. Of RunBlogRun, his daily pilgrimage with the sport, Larry says: “I have to admit, I love traveling to far away meets, writing about the sport I love, and the athletes I respect, for my readers at runblogrun.com, the most of anything I have ever done, except, maybe running itself.” Also does some updates for BBC Sports at key events, which he truly enjoys.
