India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, praised the amazing abilities of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Monday, saying that he is a complete package that can work magic on the field. Jadeja completed the double of 300 Test wickets and 3000 runs.
Jadeja passed England great Ian Botham by two Tests to reach the milestone, becoming him the second fastest to do so.
After dismissing Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud on the fourth day of this rain-soaked second Test, the 35-year-old became the first player to reach 300 wickets.
He’s a whole package for me. He is a player in the field who has the ability to work magic both at bat and in the bowl. In the press conference following the game, Morkel stated, “There’s always a guy you want in your team, and he’s done that for India for so many years.”
Being a member of the 300 Club is unique. He is a guy who practices his craft. That’s what you’re hoping to witness.
Jadeja has dominated opponents over the years with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, and Morkel claimed that the duo hardly ever gives the batsmen a chance to score.
These are not the kind of people who give you terrible balls. You have to constantly look for methods to score. You will put in a lot of effort for your run if you confront that from all angles. And for that reason, their collaboration has been so fruitful.
Despite spending two entire days idle due to bad weather and a soggy outfield, Morkel claimed his charges were prepared for action.
It is never pleasant to lose days and hours. It was kind of annoying because I knew the boys who were sitting about the motel. However, when I first joined the group, I found it interesting how the guys continued to work out in the gym and take care of their bodies after the game.
We were aware that as soon as we have the chance, we will constantly consider the good things in life and how we may contribute. We shown our intention to play throughout the day,” he said.
Considering the missed time, Morkel was not shocked in the slightest to see Indian batters going all out in their opening innings.
It was amazing to watch how the lads arrived at the ball in front of everyone. We applied pressure (with the ball) and took wickets; it was fantastic to subsequently demonstrate our intentions with the bat.
“We always included looking at how we might advance this in our game plan. And how can we obtain the outcome that wins?”
India swiftly reduced Bangladesh to 26 for two in the second innings when it was their turn to bowl, and according to Morkel, the key to successful Test cricket is applying pressure.
Results will come from doing that consistently. These folks, in my opinion, have a ton of experience and are able to sum up the situation quite well, so they are aware of what matters at that particular time.
After that, all that remains is to carry it out. Even with the best-laid plans, you will fail if you are unable to carry them out over an extended length of time. However, thus far, our group has been spot on; it’s amazing to see how we adjust to different situations.
Morkel was also questioned over the strategy of the Indian hitters, particularly Rishabh Pant’s shift in play and situational awareness.
According to the 39-year-old, the team benefits greatly from its adaptable attitude.
“We have players with a variety of styles.” They can play the game if necessary. They can bat time if necessary. One benefit of our batting lineup is that we have players who can really sort of play the situation and put pressure on bowlers.
As a hitter, one thing you want to do is put pressure on the bowlers. He went on, “We have the guys that know how to score big runs.”
Morkel praised the professionalism of the Indian team and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in this setting.
To date, I find it quite enjoyable to observe their professionalism and the way they live their lives in preparation for a performance. Well, it’s right up there in terms of recuperation.
“They genuinely don’t miss anything when it comes to working out at the gym or being in shape. “I’m not shocked,” he continued.
