Ten years after one of the most unforgettable nights in basketball history, Nike is revisiting a meaningful chapter of the Kobe Bryant signature line with the upcoming Nike Kobe 11 EM Protro “Mamba Day”, confirmed to release on April 13, 2026 for $220.

Needless to say, the date carries powerful significance. April 13th marks the 10th anniversary of Bryant’s legendary final NBA game, which saw the Black Mamba log an unthinkable sixty points en route to victory.. The night instantly cemented itself as the most iconic send-offs in NBA history and arguably in all of professional sports, closing a 20-year career defined by relentless competitiveness later defined as the Mamba Mentality.

The sneaker itself traces back to that historic evening. Originally introduced in 2016, the design was not released through a traditional retail launch. Instead, its distinctive upper graphic appeared as a customizable option on Nike By You (then known as NIKEiD), making it one of the final personalized designs tied to Bryant during his playing career.

That graphic returns for the Protro edition, featuring a layered pattern of numbers representing key milestones from Bryant’s career. Embedded throughout the upper are references to the dates of his first and final NBA games (11/01/96 and 4/13/16), five NBA championships, four All-Star MVP awards, 18 All-Star appearances, his legendary 81-point performance, two decades in the league, and the No. 24 jersey he wore during the latter half of his career. It’s a wikipedia page of important calendar days on one shoe.
