Too late to change Lucknow Super Giants’ fortunes in the ongoing IPL 2025, but just in time to show his class. After struggling throughout the season, Rishabh Pant, on Tuesday (May 27), finally roared back to form with a stunning century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
The runs had dried up for the India star in the competition. He began his campaign with a duck against Delhi Capitals before scoring a run-a-ball 15 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the following game against Punjab Kings, Rishabh Pant was out for just 2.
It was followed by knocks of 2, 21, 63, 3, 0, 4 18, 7, and 16*. Unsurprisingly, he faced severe criticism and trolling from all around. His form also cost his team LSG a place in the playoffs. The Lucknow-based outfit won four of their first six games but managed just 1 one in their next 6 games to be dumped out of IPL 2025.
Your daily dose of cricket!
Rishabh Pant failed to lead his team from the front when it was struggling. While LSG won’t be able to turn things around at this stage in IPL 2025, they will definitely be relieved by the fact that their captain finally regained his form with the bat.
Rishabh Pant scores second IPL century:
Rishabh Pant scored his second IPL century and first since 2018 as he led LSG from the very front against RCB. He was promoted to number three in the batting order once again and finally justified the decision with his brilliant knock. He remained unbeaten on 118 off 61 balls with the help of 11 fours and 8 sixes as LSG finished their innings on 227/3.
Asked to bat first, LSG were off to a shaky start as opener Matthew Breetzke departed in the third over. However, Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant put LSG in the driver’s seat by sharing a 152-run stand for the second wicket. The partnership ended in the 16th over when Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Marsh.
The Australian star departed after scoring 67 runs off 37 balls. While Marsh failed to convert his fifty into a century, Rishabh Pant did not. The wicketkeeper-batsman completed his fifty off just 29 balls before reaching his century off 54 balls in the 18th over.
As Pant finally regained his form, the fans were quick to react. Here are some of the reactions:
#Pant this has been some innings…good to see him back to his best

Never write him off!
Look at the happiness on his face and the way he celebrated, shows what it means to him. Felt like guy realised who he’s and what he’s capable of.
Welcome back Rishabh Pant.

At least we get our vice captain heading to England in a happy space. This hundred should shed a lot of the mental baggage of this IPL season. Perhaps should’ve played at number three a lot more more this season..But good to see @RishabhPant17 smiling and celebrating! #LSGvsRCB
