The How High Is Too High? Edition – Singletrack World Magazine

Fresh Goods Friday is here again, and my willpower has already left the chat. Let’s do this: dinky cranks first, then the rest of the shiny trouble.

RIP Sly Dunbar

5DEV R-Spec eBIKE Levo SL Cranks

Short cranks. They’re very much in vogue at the moment. And I’m here for it. Pedal strikes are not nice. Having said that, I can’t seem to get used to cranks shorter than 160mm. Which is fine, because these very distinctive cranks from 5DEV are 160mm long (short?). Pedal strike is actually the instigating reason for getting these in for review; we’ve bent pedals and knackered pedal threads on the (170mm) cranks that came on this Spesh Levo SL2. And there’s only really 5DEV who do aftermarket 160mm cranks for this bike/motor.

ODI Universal Number Plate

We’ll hand this over to our Aran to use in the imminent race season. ODI: “offset mounting system allows the number plate to sit at difference distances from your handlebars allowing cables to be routed in front or behind it. The Universal Number Plate will fit almost any handlebar. Durable but flexible reinforced construction and multiple attachment points around the edge make it extremely versatile.” Also available in black or grey.

Galibier Fire Feet Knee Highs

Long socks FTW. 40% Merino wool, 40% Acrylic, 18% Poliamide, 2% Lycra. Antibacterial fibres. Flat-seam toe. Abrasion-resistant sole. Sizes: small: 38-42, medium: 42-45, large to XL: 44-48.According to Galibier: “It’s essential to save these socks for cycling; avoid activities like running or gardening to ensure their longevity.” I think we can manage that.

An Interesting Bicycle
