Former all-round great Kapil Dev believes that Jasprit Bumrah is a “1000 times better” bowler now than he was in his prime.
Bumrah, who has been performing remarkably well in the recent T20 World Cup, has taken 11 wickets in 23 overs at an amazing economy of 4.08.
“Bumrah is 1000 times better than me. These young boys are far better than us. We had more experience. They are better,” Kapil told ‘PTI Videos’.
Bumrah, who is currently considered to be the finest pacer in international cricket, has amassed 159 wickets at an economy rate of less than three in 26 Test matches for India. In 89 ODI matches, he has claimed 149 wickets; in 68 T20I matches, he has taken 85 wickets.
In addition to finishing his career with a then-world record 434 Test wickets, Kapil is regarded as one of the greatest all-arounders in history, having also taken 253 ODI wickets.
Having guided India to their first World Cup victory in 1983, the 65-year-old additionally appreciated the current national team’s general level of fitness.
“They are very good. Outstanding. They are fitter. They are much more hardworking. They are fantastic,” he said.
