With the 2025-26 BU season in the rear-view mirror, we’ll take a look back at memorable games played on March 30–the good, the bad and the gut-punch bad.
► Two years ago, BU avenged its 2023 Frozen Four loss to Minnesota by defeating the Golden Gophers in the championship game of the Sioux Falls Regional, 6-3.
BU spotted Minnesota a 2-0 lead before scoring six of the last seven goals for the win. Six different skaters found the net for BU–Quinn Hutson, Shane Lachance, Jack Harvey, Lane Hutson, Case McCarthy and Sam Stevens. Macklin Celebrini with three assists was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the
regional. He joined Mathieu Caron, Lane Hutson, Harvey and McCarthy on the All-Regional
Team.
Lane Hutson’s game-winner was the tenth of his two seasons on the BU blueline.
● Terrier Hockey Fan Blog recap
►1995 In the Frozen Four semifinal in Providence, Terriers erupt for four
third period goals to skate past Minnesota, 7-3. Captain Jacques Joubert and Doug Wood scored in the first period. Matt Wright gave BU a 3-2 lead in the second, but the Gophers knotted the game at three. Bob Lachance scored the go-ahead goal in the final period, followed by goals from Chris O’Sullivan, Shawn Bates and Mike Sylvia. Derek Herlofsky, a Minnesota native, turned aside 30 Gopher shots.

►1991: For many BU fans, this game tops the list of heartbreaking Frozen Four losses. After rallying from three goals down late in the third period, Terriers lost to Northern Michigan in triple overtime, 8-7. BU had swept Michigan in the quarterfinals and then routed Clarkson in the semis to reach the championship game.
The Wildcats held a 7-4 lead after 50 minutes, but goals from Tony Amonte, Shawn McEachern and David Sacco brought BU even. An Amonte blast with one second left in regulation was gloved down by NMU’s Bill Pye.
In the first overtime, Kevin O’Sullivan and Keith Tkachuk hit iron on consecutive attempts before covered the puck short of the goal line. McEachern also hit the post before the Wildcats scored the game-winner in the game’s 82nd minute.
►1990: BU’s remarkable post-season run came to an end with a 3-2 loss to Colgate in the NCAA semifinals. BU, led by captain Mike Sullivan and Joe Sacco,
had won three best-of-three series, each time losing the first game
before winning the next two: Northeastern in the Hockey East
quarter-finals, then North Dakota and Michigan State (in E. Lansing, game 2 & 3 videos in the Milestone Games sidebar) in
the NCAA tournament.

2027 recruit Jamie Glance scored twice–including the overtime game-winner–and added an assist in the U18s’ 5-4 win, giving them a sweep of Muskegon. Late in the third period, 2026 recruit Viktor Norringer drew the Lumberjacks even with his 23 goal. The 6’3″ win has 48 points in 46 points with six goals in the last seven games. In overtime, Glance took a drop pass from Schairer and rifled home the game-winner. 2027 recruit Brady Knowling, in goal for both weekend games, stopped 36 shots after turning aside 43 in Friday’s win.
