It’s now been nearly three years since Greg McCahon left Alaska en route to Argentina, and around a year since his last video. The wait is finally over, and we’re thrilled to see Greg publishing again. His latest release finds him in Colombia, where he made the most of his 90-day visa, traversing the ruggedly beautiful country aboard his fully loaded Tumbleweed Prospector, still bearing the license plate he picked up on the very first leg of his journey.

Drawn in by the spectacular mountain vistas around every corner, Greg abandoned his plan for taking the direct route across the country, instead opting for what he described as “the least efficient route possible to Ecuador,” savoring every last day of the ride. He followed segments of our Oh Boyaca! bikepacking route, using notable towns and other points of interest as waypoints on his otherwise loose track.

The nicely shot, no-frills nature of his filmmaking style also helps paint an honest picture of what it’s like to spend months and years on the bike, letting his experiences speak for themselves. As globetrotting bikepackers go, Greg is about as warm and open as they come, and his usual affability leads to some charming interactions with locals. He also pays tribute to the late Iohan Gueorguiev, whose videos continue to inspire and motivate a generation of bikepackers, by handing out treats to many of the dogs he encounters along the way. See it all in the 45-minute video above.
