The Tigers boss wasn’t happy with the TNT presenters
Leicester Tigers boss Geoff Parling says he’s received an apology from TNT Sports following an angry confrontation with presenter Craig Doyle.
Parling was visibly unhappy at Doyle and colleague Liam MacDevitt ahead of his side’s televised PREM clash with Gloucester at Villa Park on Saturday.
Doyle had challenged MacDevitt to kick for goal as part of an ‘initiation’ live on air, despite Leicester’s players going through their warm-ups at that end of the pitch.
Parling came over to confront the presenters and could be seen pushing Doyle away before appearing to swear at him.
He seemingly told the pair their actions were “******* not on”.
Footage of the incident went viral on social media, and sparked a mixed reaction from fans.
But, speaking after the game, Parling told the BBC that he had received an apology from the broadcaster.
“The producer for TNT has just come to apologise to me,” he said.
“They had something set up that wasn’t passed with anybody to our knowledge.
“I’m very wary that I need to protect my players and certainly balls flying towards our players that could go anywhere.
“When there’s an injury risk, obviously I’m not going to be happy.”
The incident clearly didn’t have any negative impact on Leicester’s performance, as they ran out 36-17 winners.
The result gives the Tigers a fourth PREM win, with tries coming from Will Wand, Gabriel Hamer-Webb, Orlando Bailey, as well as a double from Jamie Blamire.
