The British Esports Federation has announced that Tom Dore has been appointed the new Managing Director of National Student Esports (NSE), succeeding Alex Coulson.
Tom joins NSE as part of a secondment from British Esports.
In his new role, Tom will lead the ongoing development of NSE’s mission to support and grow university-level esports – including the British University Esports Championship – whilst strengthening connections across education, industry, and community stakeholders.
Tom will also retain a voluntary role at British Esports, helping to ensure close collaboration between the two organisations and alignment across student and grassroots esports initiatives.
This move follows the recently announced partnership between NSE, British Esports and Esports Global. This brings together two of the UK’s leading student esports providers to create one of Europe’s largest and most connected student esports ecosystems, driving greater student engagement, improved attendance and developing valuable future-ready skills.
Tom has been a central part of British Esports since 2017, contributing significantly to the organisation’s growth and to the development of esports in the UK. During this time, he has built and maintained strong national and international relationships across esports, education, government and industry.
His secondment represents the next phase of the British Esports and NSE partnership, reinforcing a shared commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive and high-quality esports opportunities across education and the wider ecosystem.
NSE Managing Director Tom Dore said: “I would like to thank Alex for his leadership and contribution to NSE. Under his guidance, NSE has grown significantly over the last 5 years, expanding participation and delivering high-quality competitive and community experiences for students nationwide. I am very pleased he will still be supporting us in a consultancy role with a focus on commercial strategy and partnerships.
“Moving forwards, I am excited to work with the team to build on their existing success and lead NSE on the next stage of its development, working with a range of brands and industry stakeholders to create even more opportunities for students to meet, play and compete.”
