Top 10 debut for Bublik, Medvedev wins title No. 22

Alexander Bublik will become a top-10 player for the first time in his career on Monday after he won the Bank of China Open title on Sunday, defeating top seed Lorenzo Musetti 7-6(2), 6-3. Bublik served at 76 percent, struck 10 aces, and broke Musetti three times while triumphing in one hour and 38 minutes.

“The only goal for this season was to achieve the top 10, and in the first week I have won the title and I am into the top 10,” the 28-year-old Kazakh commented. “If you had told me that last April I would never have believed you. But it is a pleasure and I hope to continue in the same way.”

Shockingly, Musetti still has not captured an ATP title since 2022. Of consolation for the Italian, though, is that he will break into the top five for the first time on Monday.

At the Brisbane International, Daniil Medvedev extended his incredible statistic of winning all of his titles in different cities. Medvedev captured his 22nd ATP title at a 22nd tournament when he beat Brandon Nakashima 6-2, 7-6(1) on Sunday.

The 29-year-old Russian jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening set and was in control almost the entire way. He got broken for the first time in the match while serving for victory at 5-4 in the second, but he steadied himself in the ensuing tiebreaker.

Medvedev was in joking mood on Twitter following his win.
