Delhi Capitals (DC) finally broke their long wait and defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the first time at Chepauk in 15 years. In match 17 of IPL 2025, played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, DC won by 25 runs after putting up a strong all-round performance.
Batting first, Delhi Capitals posted a total of 183/6 in 20 overs. KL Rahul led the innings with a solid 77 runs off 51 balls. Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs also played quick cameos to keep the scoreboard moving. Khaleel Ahmed was the best bowler for CSK, picking two wickets for just 25 runs in his four overs.
In reply, CSK could manage only 158/5 in their 20 overs. Vijay Shankar played a fighting knock of 69 not out, and MS Dhoni stayed unbeaten on 30. But they could not chase down the target. Vipraj Nigam picked two wickets for DC, while Starc, Mukesh, and Kuldeep took one each. With this win, DC ended their losing run at Chepauk and earned two important points in the league.
