The four playoff teams for IPL 2025 have been confirmed — Punjab Kings (PBKS), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Gujarat Titans (GT).
But the race for a top 2 finish is still wide open. The top two teams at the end of the league stage will get a direct entry to Qualifier 1, and all four teams are still in the race.
Here’s how each team can still make it to the top 2:
PBKS vs MI: Winner goes to Qualifier 1
Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are set to face off in their last league match. The winner of this match will seal one of the top two spots and qualify for Qualifier 1.
It’s a do-or-die clash for both teams. The loser will still stay in the playoffs but will have to play the Eliminator.
LSG vs RCB: Big implications for RCB and GT
This match will decide the fate of the second team in the top two.
If RCB beat Lucknow Super Giants, they will join the PBKS vs MI winner in Qualifier 1.
If LSG beat RCB, then Gujarat Titans will go through to Qualifier 1 as the second team.
Gujarat Titans have already completed all their league matches and are waiting for the results to go in their favour.
In short, RCB must win to qualify for the top 2. If they lose, GT will move ahead. PBKS and MI just need to win their own game to get in.
