Noman taking a wicket during a Test match

These are the bowlers who absolutely decimated the opposing batting order in some particular Test matches by taking a big number of wickets in an inning

Patel taking a wicket during a Test match
Ajaz Patel

1. Ajaz Patel (New Zealand) – 10/119

In 2021, the Kiwi spinner became only the third bowler in history of the sport to clinch all the wickets in an inning. Patel’s heroics would see India get bundled out for 325 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, however the Black Caps would fail to capitalize and would get dismissed for just 62 runs. They would eventually lose the match by a massive 372-run margin as their batting order had no answer to the Indian bowlers throughout the match.

Sajid taking a wicket against Bangladesh
Sajid Khan

2. Sajid Khan (Pakistan) – 8/42

After Pakistan declared for a decent total of 300/4, their spinners would go on to inflict massive damage on the Bangladesh batters in Mirpur. Sajid would be Pakistan’s star performer in the bowling department as he would end up taking 8 wickets as the hosts would get dismissed for only 87 runs in their first innings. Sajid would take 4 more scalps in the second innings to help Pakistan dismiss the hosts for 205 and win the match by an innings and 8 runs.

Noman taking a Test wicket
Noman Ali

3. Noman Ali (Pakistan) – 8/46

The Pakistan spin duo of Noman and Sajid would prove to be absolutely dominant against England in Multan. The duo would take all the 20 wickets of the England innings between them. In the first innings, Sajid would take 7 while Noman would pick up 3 and in the second innings, Noman would clinch 8 while Sajid would pick up the remaining 2. This incredible spin bowling display saw the visitors slump to a 152-run defeat.

Lyon taking a Test wicket
Nathan Lyon

4. Nathan Lyon (Australia) – 8/64

Lyon would turn out to be the star performer for Australia in their low-scoring encounter against India in Indore in 2023. He would pick up 3 important wickets as India would get bowled out for 109 runs in their first innings. Lyon’s 8-wicket haul in the second innings would prove to be too good for the Men in Blue as they would only manage to put up a total of 163 before getting bundled out. The target of 76 would easily be achieved by Australia to win the match by 9 wickets.

Henry taking a wicket against South Africa
Matt Henry

5. Matt Henry (New Zealand) – 7/23

Henry is the only pacer on the list so far. The Kiwi bowler dominated against the South African batting order in Christchurch in 2022. His incredible and economical 7-wicket haul would see the Proteas crumble and get bundled out for only 95 runs in their first innings. In return, New Zealand would post a massive total of 482 before Henry would take 2 more wickets in the visitors’ second innings to help the hosts bundle them out for 111 runs and convincingly win the match by an innings and 276 runs.
