The Kiwi batter went on a rampage against West Indies during the quarter-final of the ODI World Cup 2015. His hard-hitting saw him carry New Zealand to a humongous total of 393/6 after 50 overs. Guptill’s exceptional double-century included 24 boundaries and 11 massive sixes.
3. Virender Sehwag (India), 2011 – 219
The Indian opener totally dominated the West Indian bowling attack at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Thanks to his fabulous knock, India reached a massive total of 418/5 after 50 overs which the West Indies failed to chase. Sehwag’s fantastic double-century included 25 boundaries and 7 sixes.
4. Chris Gayle (West Indies), 2015 – 215
The West Indian opener who was also famously nicknamed, ‘The Universe Boss’, destroyed the Zimbabwean bowling attack and became the first-ever batter to score a double-century in the ODI World Cup, doing so in the 2015 edition. Gayle’s superb knock included 10 boundaries and 16 sixes.
5. Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan), 2018 – 210*
The Pakistan opening pair of Fakhar and Imam-ul-Haq decimated the Zimbabwean bowling attack with their incredible 304-run stand which saw Imam smash 113 runs while Fakhar would score a double-century. Thanks to these knocks, Pakistan would finish on 399/1 after 50 overs. Fakhar’s knock included of 24 boundaries and 5 sixes.
