The former Australia skipper contributed a lot for his side with the bat against India in the Border-Gavaskar series. Ponting was the Australian batter who dominated against India on both home soil and on Indian pitches. His highest score in the series is 257.
3. VVS Laxman (India) – 2434 runs
The Indian batting great especially loved playing red-ball cricket against Australia. Laxman played some absolutely sensational knocks in the Border-Gavaskar series which includes his fantastic innings of 281.
4. Rahul Dravid (India) – 2143 runs
The legendary Indian batter scored a massive number of runs against the Aussies and played some memorable knocks as well. His famous knock of 233 in the Border-Gavaskar series is one of his greatest Test innings ever.
5. Michael Clarke (Australia) – 2049 runs
The former Australian skipper was nothing short of a nightmare for the Indian bowlers. Clarke played some of the finest Test innings of his career against India which includes his incredible unbeaten knock of 329.
