1. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi – 9 losses
The India great captained the side for a total of 27 Test matches at home where the side won on 6 occasions, suffered defeats on 9 occasions and matches were drawn on 12 occasions.
2. Rohit Sharma – 5 losses
The current Indian skipper recently ended up losing 3 consecutive Test matches at home to New Zealand and became the first-ever captain under whom India suffered a series whitewash at home. In 16 matches played under Rohit so far, India have won 10, lost 5 with the remaining match ending in a draw.
3. Mohammad Azharuddin – 4 losses
The former Indian batter captained the Indian team for quite some time and the side had a fabulous record especially at home under his leadership. He captained the team for a total of 20 matches, out of which India won 12, lost 4 and drew the remaining 4.
4. Kapil Dev – 4 losses
The legendary Indian cricketer contributed greatly towards the development of cricket in the country. However, under Kapil’s leadership, the Indian team had a dismal record at home. Out of 20 matches under him, India won only 2, lost 4, drew 13 and tied the remaining match.
5. MS Dhoni – 3 losses
The Indian team had a remarkable record on home soil under Dhoni’s captaincy as in the 30 matches played under the wicketkeeper-batter, India only lost thrice, won 21 and drew the remaining 6 matches.
