1. Alastair Cook (England) – 28 years, 353 days
The former England captain was a specialist in Test cricket. He is the highest run-scorer for England in the format as well. Cook played his 100th Test match just a few days before his 29th birthday. He played a total of 161 Tests in his career.
2. Sachin Tendulkar (India) – 29 years, 134 days
The legendary Indian batter who is also famously nicknamed, ‘The God of Cricket’ still remains the highest run-scorer in the Test format with over 15,000 runs. Tendulkar played a total of 200 Tests throughout his career, the most for any player in history.
3. Joe Root (England) – 30 years, 37 days
The England batter who is in contention to become the batter with the most Test runs in the future, has played Test cricket significantly more than limited-over formats. Root has so far played a total of 146 Tests in his career.
4. Mark Boucher (South Africa) – 30 years, 39 days
The former South African wicketkeeper-batter still holds the record for the most catches taken by a player in Test cricket with a total of 532 catches under his name. Boucher played a total of 147 Tests in his career.
5. Stuart Broad (England) – 30 years, 139 days
The former England pacer is the only bowler on the list and his number of wickets are enough to speak for him. With a total of 604 wickets in 167 Tests, Broad is not only the second-highest wicket-taker for England in the format but is also the English player with the second-most Tests played.
