These are the Indian players who have failed to live up to the expectations laid upon them by the fans, and have been dismissed without troubling the scores on some occasions in the shortest format
1. Rohit Sharma – 12 ducks
The former Indian skipper, who announced his retirement from the format after India’s T20 World Cup triumph, failed to trouble to scores on many occasions due to his ultra-aggressive approach which saw him get dismissed while trying to play a big shot.
2. Virat Kohli – 7 ducks
The star Indian batter announced his retirement from the format following India’s T20 World Cup triumph. Though Kohli led India to victory on several occasions in T20Is, he got dismissed without troubling the scores on some occasions as well.
3. KL Rahul – 5 ducks
The currently out-of-form Indian batter was a mainstay in Men in Blu’s T20I team for many years. Though Rahul did play some fine knocks in the format, he also got dismissed for a duck on some occasions.
4. Sanju Samson – 5 ducks
The wicketkeeper-batter recently broke the unwanted record for the most ducks recorded in a calendar year for an Indian player. Samson registered his 4th duck of 2024 and his 5th duck of the format in the 2nd T20I against South Africa.
5. Shreyas Iyer – 4 ducks
The Indian batter has completely slipped out from the T20I side after he wasn’t given a central contract by the BCCI earlier this year. There have been a total of 4 occasions where Iyer has failed to trouble the scores in the shortest format.
6. Rishabh Pant – 4 ducks
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter made an incredible comeback with the T20 World Cup and played an important role in India’s triumph. Due to his aggressive batting style, Pant has gone on to record a duck on 4 occasions in the format.
7. Washington Sundar – 4 ducks
Though the Indian all-rounder comes out to bat on the seventh or eighth spot, he still has recorded a duck on a few occasions in the shortest format. Sundar generally contributes more with the ball than he does with the bat.
