Top prospect Torrez Finney shares details of horrific injury suffered just seconds into UFC 325

Dana White’s Contender Series star Torrez Finney fought with one compromised leg during his UFC 325 three-round fight.

UFC fighters are arguably the toughest athletes in the world, and middleweight Torrez Finney proved that sentiment in a loss at UFC 325 last month.

Finney, who dropped a unanimous decision to Jacob Malkoun at UFC 325, was noticeably hobbled just seconds into the first round. Despite the injury, Finney went the full three-round distance with Malkoun in a prototypical example of toughness and grit.

Despite suffering his first UFC setback, Finney was praised by many fans for his decision to continue competing despite the leg injury. But Finney’s injured leg was more compromised than most originally thought.

In a recent post to X, Finney posted his first update since suffering a serious leg injury at UFC 325.

“Thank God he’s built me to overcome every obstacle I’ve faced and that will be the story once again,” Finney wrote.

“I tore my ACL and both of my [menisci] within my knee. Got me into surgery the next day. He said it’s insane I was able to fight tearing that 15 seconds into the fight.”

Finney earned a shot in the UFC after three wins on Dana White’s Contender Series. After two wins that failed to impress Dana White, Finney was undeniable in a first-round knockout on the show in October 2024.

It’s uncertain when Finney will be medically cleared to return to the Octagon as torn ACLs typically take nine-to-twelve months to fully recover. In the meantime, Finney appears in great spirits.
