One of the most beloved figures in British combat sports, UFC fighter Michael ‘Venom’ Page, waxed lyrical over the striking quality present through Saturday’s Total Kombat 03 event that Boxing Social live-streamed from Liverpool in England.
As a specialist in sport karate and points fighting in kickboxing, Page is renowned for his unique, awkward, and near-showboating style, and has scored extraordinary wins over Evangelista Santos and Douglas Lima in Bellator MMA, before crossing over to the UFC and defeating Kevin Holland, Sharabutdin Magomedov, and Jared Cannonier, among others.
Backed by MVP himself, Total Kombat is an upstart fight firm that brings together world class athletes from striking disciplines like karate, taekwondo, and semi, light, and full-contact kickboxing.
This weekend’s event was the third in the company’s history, and MVP beamed at the quality displayed from the show’s participants.
“I’m looking for the next superstar,” he said, in a statement sent to Boxing Social. “Big kicks, big KO’s, high fliers — that’s what I am looking for, and that’s what we’ve got here.
“The fights were amazing from start to finish. These guys are some of the best strikers on the planet.”
The night was capped with a winning performance from London fighter Joe ‘The Hunter’ Brooks, who scooped the inaugural Total Kombat bantamweight championship after out-pointing Bahaa Kabil, before facing off with Tais O’Donnell — who scored a knockout over Dom Rode earlier in the night. “I want the first title shot,” O’Donnell said.
“This guy talks so much,” the new champ, Brooks, said. “We’re going to have to do it. He had a good performance earlier this evening but he’s got no chance of doing that to me. I will fight him any time.”
Total Kombat CEO, Lee Matthews, was, like MVP, thrilled with what he saw transpire on the night. “The action at Total Kombat 3 was amazing,” he said in a statement sent to Boxing Social.
“We delivered a fantastic event for ITV viewers, our US viewers on FloSports and the 3,000 fans packed in to the sold-out Liverpool Olympia. This is the kind of action you can expect every single time from Total Kombat.”
