Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly making their move for one of Serie A’s most exciting midfielders. According to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, Spurs have made initial contact with Fiorentina over a deal for 25-year-old Nicolo Fagioli — and this one is well worth getting excited about.

A product of Juventus’ celebrated academy, Fagioli was drawing Andrea Pirlo comparisons before he’d even broken into senior football. His debut under the Italian legend himself — a starring role in a 4–0 Coppa Italia win over SPAL — felt almost poetic. After 69 appearances for the Bianconeri, he made the move to Florence in search of regular football, and he’s delivered in spades.

Despite Fiorentina’s nightmare season — sitting 16th and staring down relegation — Fagioli has been one of the best midfielders in Serie A. Seven Italy caps later, it’s clear the rest of Europe has noticed too.
That includes Newcastle United, who have also made contact according to Konur, meaning Ange Postecoglou’s side cannot afford to drag their feet.
