Aston Villa piled yet more pressure on Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank by knocking the north London side out of the FA Cup on Saturday.
The Lilywhites have endured a difficult season so far under the Dane and have been particularly poor at home, and Ollie Watkins’ fine strike inflicted more misery on Spurs early on in the capital.
Morgan Rogers doubled the Villans’ advantage prior to the break and, although Wilson Odobert pulled one back for Tottenham – who improved after the break – Villa held on to knock Spurs out of the FA Cup at the third round stage.
Now, with the January transfer window in full swing, it has emerged that Tottenham have made a shock bid to sign a Real Madrid star.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, via TEAMtalk, Spurs have made an initial offer of around £52 million for Real Madrid winger Brahim Diaz.
The report claims that the Lilywhites have identified the Moroccan attacker as a prime target to bolster Frank’s misfiring attack.

Diaz, 26, is currently representing Morocco at the African Cup of Nations and has been in fine form for the tournament’s hosts.
He has so far scored in all five of Moroccos’ matches at the tournament, helping the host nation to set up a semi-final meeting against Nigeria on Wednesday.
The winger – who previously represented Spain internationally and scored on his only appearance for the European nation – joined Real Madrid from Manchester City in 2019 and has since spent time on loan at Italian side AC Milan.
In total he has made 139 appearances for Real across all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 23 assists.
The report claims that Spurs are interested in the Moroccan – who has started just three La Liga games so far this term – having recently allowed Brennan Johnson to join Crystal Palace.
Frank will also be without Mohammed Kudus until April after the Ghanaian suffered an injury, exacerbating Spurs’ need for attacking reinforcements.
