Travis Head Goes Full Pinball Wizard at the Women’s Australian Open Pro‑Am

Even the smoothest ball‑striker in Australian cricket isn’t immune to the odd bad shot, and Travis Head delivered an absolute pearler during the Women’s Australian Open pro‑am at Kooyonga.

We’ve shared one of Travis Head’s good golf shots here before, so in the interest of fair and balanced reporting, we thought we should share a bad golf shot too.

Lining up with a 2-iron at the first hole at Kooyonga Golf Club, and with every intention of sending one straight down the middle, Head instead produced a moment of pure slapstick.

Head’s ball rocketed straight into a nearby post, ricocheted back past the tee, and then clattered around the steel grandstand like it was auditioning for a pinball machine. Players, volunteers, and onlookers scattered as laughter broke out across the tee box.

To add to the fun, playing partner Kelsey Bennett has since shared her version of events in a post‑round interview, equal parts disbelief and delight, while Greg Blewett has recounted the tale with the kind of glee only a good friend could muster.
