Travis Head on playing against India ahead of Border-Gavaskar series

Australia opening batter Travis Head believes that India is an “extremely difficult” side to play against ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series that will be played between the 2 sides in November. India has won its previous 4 Test series against Australia and thus, have gained an upper hand over them.

The Men in Blue will be looking to make it a hat-trick of Test series triumphs against the Aussies Down Under after claiming victory in the 2018/19 and 2020/21 series. This has made India a much more successful side in the series, winner the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 10 times while Australia have managed to win it on 5 occasions.

Speaking to Star Sports, Head said that he doesn’t feel India are his favourite since the Aussies played against them enough.

“I don’t feel like they’re my favourite. I just feel like we play them enough, play them lots. And, I guess the last couple of years I’ve been in nice form. So yeah, being able to, to play well, it’s always nice. It’s not hard to get up for the contest. It’s hugely competitive. Yeah, it’s easier to get up for the game. So I wouldn’t say they’re my favourites,” Head said.

“They’re extremely difficult but it’s been nice to play well in a couple of games and looking forward to preparing well and being ready to go and…hope hopefully I can contribute to what’s a successful summer for us,” Head added.

The first Test of the 5-match series will be played in Perth on November 22 while the next 4 Tests will be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney respectively.
