Trent McDuffie Previously Expressed Desire To Play For Rams

The Los Angeles Rams made the first big splash of the NFL offseason, acquiring All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie in a blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Rams have never been afraid to prove premium draft picks for established talent, and that was again the case with this move. Cornerback was far and away the Rams’ biggest need going into the offseason and they addressed it by bringing in McDuffie for the 29th overall pick in the 2026 draft, plus fifth, sixth and third-round picks.

For McDuffie, this trade gives him everything he wants as he is expected to sign a contract extension near the top of the cornerback market, something the Chiefs couldn’t do. Additionally, McDuffie grew up in Southern California and previously expressed a desire to play for the Rams to be close to home if he ever left the Chiefs:

McDuffie was born in Westminster and played at St. John Bosco, Mater Dei and Servite in high school before going on to play his college ball at Washington.

The 25-year-old has won at every level, including two Super Bowls with the Chiefs in his first two NFL seasons, so wanting to play for an organization like the Rams makes all the sense in the world.

L.A. has made it clear that they want to maximize Matthew Stafford’s remaining time with the team to compete for another Super Bowl. This move for McDuffie shows exactly that and while the Rams still have other needs to address this offseason, they are off to a great start.

Puka Nacua and Quentin Lake excited to reunite with Trent McDuffie

Trent McDuffie has familiarity with some players on the Rams roster as he briefly played with Quentin Lake in high school and Puka Nacua in college. After the trade went down, both of the Rams stars took to social media to express their excitement to reunite with McDuffie.
