Simone Biles and Lindsey Vonn are both legends in their respective sports. Biles has competed in three Olympics, including her triumphant run at the 2024 Paris Games. Biles won three gold medals and one silver. She increased her tally to 11 Olympic medals, making her the most decorated gymnast of all time.
Vonn, on the other hand, is in her fifth Winter Olympics. She has one gold and two bronze medals under her belt. Unfortunately for the 41-year-old, her bid for a fourth Olympic medal ended in disaster. Vonn crashed in the final of the downhill skiing competition on Feb. 8. She fractured her left leg, forcing her out of the rest of the Winter Games.

On Friday, Vonn took to social media to share an update from the hospital. The skiing icon had already undergone multiple surgeries on her leg, and she admitted that it has been “quite a hard few days in the hospital.”
“I’m finally feeling more like myself, but I have a long, long way to go,” she said. “Tomorrow I’ll have another surgery and hopefully that goes well and then I can potentially leave and go back home, which point I will need another surgery.
“I still don’t know exactly what that entails yet until I get some better imaging, but it’s kind of where I am right now. I am just in the hospital, very much immobile, but I have a lot of friends and family that have been coming to visit.”
Vonn expressed her gratitude for all the letters and gifts she has received from her fans.
“I feel very lucky and fortunate to have so many people around me that have really helped me get through this,” she continued, also thanking the hospital staff. “So I just want to say thank you and go Team USA. It’s been so great to watch and really lifted my spirit, so good job team and keep crushing it.”
Biles was one of the thousands who showered Vonn with messages of support.
“sending good vibes,” Biles wrote.
The gymnastics icon also dropped another comment on Vonn’s post. Biles reacted with a white heart emoji as she offered her support for the embattled skiing star.
Biles has suffered her fair share of injuries, and she knows full well how challenging it is to get back to the top. This is exactly why she’s standing behind Vonn.
On Saturday, Vonn announced that her latest round of surgery was successful. She revealed that she has been given the clearance to return home to the United States. The two-time World Championships gold medalist will cheer on Team USA for the rest of the Winter Olympics from the comfort of her own home back in America.
