UAE’s Familiar Conditions Give India an Edge in T20 World Cup, Says Mithali Raj

According to former captain Mithali Raj, India will have a big advantage over other teams because of the UAE’s similar climate to that of their own country.

Starting on October 3, the UAE’s Dubai and Sharjah will host the women’s T20 World Cup. The ICC rescheduled its major event from Bangladesh due to the political instability in that country.

“The UAE is, again, in very similar conditions, so we can say that, you know, our team has the advantage,” Mithali stated to Star sports.

The former batter cautioned against complacency, pointing out that all teams will be well-prepared for the main event.

“But again, the World Cup means every team comes well prepared,” she said.

The Indian women’s team has advanced to the finals of several ICC competitions, including two senior World Cups, although they have not yet won a world championship.

“The Indian women’s team, so far, hasn’t won, other than the Under-19 World Cup,” Mithali stated.

“I think I will definitely want the team to do well because, like everybody else, when we get into the World Cup, we want our team to win.”

“I believe I just covered the inaugural Asia Cup for women’s cricket as a broadcaster, and India was eliminated. In that sense, I’m not sure if that’s fortunate or not,” she continued.

On October 4 in Dubai, India will begin their campaign against New Zealand.

Harmanpreet and Co have been clubbed alongside Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Group A.
