UFC icon thinks Anthony Joshua gave Jake Paul harsh reality check in broken jaw beatdown

Anthony Joshua crushed Jake Paul in their late 2025 boxing match, and a former UFC champion believes a lesson was learned.

When Gervonta “Tank” Davis was pulled from a planned showdown with Paul, “El Gallo” and MVP Promotions turned to Joshua. Many were surprised that Paul went from being scheduled to fight a lightweight to facing a heavyweight. Some were even convinced the fight ultimately wouldn’t take place, but it did indeed occur as advertised.

Joshua scored a sixth-round knockout victory over Paul, who avoided danger for most of the fight until he was worn out. A straight right from Joshua broke Paul’s jaw.

In an interview with MMAFighting.com, Andrei Arlovski said Paul’s loss served as an important lesson.

“I didn’t like it but Jake Paul had f*cking great condition for six rounds,” Arlovski said. “Obviously he ran around, it doesn’t matter. He got his broken jaw. It’s not good. Broken jaw in two places is going to take some time to heal it to get recovered. We’ll see.

“Hopefully maybe yes, maybe not he’s going to get back into boxing. But for now, he might understand people who spend 10, 15, 20 years in boxing and MMA, it’s not like you’re training hard like last month in a boxing gym or something or do MMA. People f*cking spend their lives over there.”

Paul has said he isn’t done with competing in the sport of boxing. He even has a lofty goal of becoming a champion, which experts believe is a pipe dream.

As for Joshua, he has endured tragedy since the win over “El Gallo.” Joshua was shaken up in a car crash that killed two of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele. The former heavyweight champion recently spoke about the loss of his friends on his YouTube channel.
