UFC London Bout Scrapped At The Eleventh Hour After Fighter Blows Weight By Massive 8 Pounds

UFC London Bout Scrapped At The Eleventh Hour After Fighter Blows Weight By Massive 8 Pounds

The UFC London card has been trimmed by one bout with just a day remaining before fight night.

The upcoming Fight Night event is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at The O2 Arena in London, England. The card will be headlined by a pivotal featherweight clash widely viewed as a title eliminator, as No. 1-ranked Movsar Evloev takes on No. 3 contender Lerone Murphy.

At Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC London, Luana Carolina came in at 144 pounds, a staggering eight pounds over the 136-pound non-title limit for her scheduled bantamweight bout against Melissa Mullins. Meanwhile, Mullins had hit the scale moments earlier, weighing in at 136 pounds on the dot.

The UFC ultimately scrapped the bout following the official weigh-ins due to the significant weight gap.

Shortly after, Mullins took to Instagram, expressing her dejection over the turn of events while revealing that she and Carolina had mutually agreed to proceed with the fight, only for the commission to ultimately step in and shut it down, citing regulatory concerns.

“No Mess” was slated to compete at UFC London on the heels of a unanimous decision loss to Daria Zhelezniakova at UFC Baku in June 2025. The 34-year-old Coventry native currently holds a 2-2 record in the UFC and stands at 7-2 overall.

Meanwhile, Carolina was last seen in action at UFC Perth in September, where her three-fight winning streak came to an end with a unanimous decision loss to Michelle Montague. The 32-year-old Brazilian currently holds a 6-4 record inside the UFC.

“Dread” has developed a troubling reputation for missing weight throughout her UFC run, having done so on three separate occasions. The first came in 2021 ahead of her split decision win over Poliana Botelho. She then missed the flyweight limit again at UFC Vegas 85 in February 2024 for her bout against Julija Stoliarenko.

In March 2025, her scheduled clash with Montana De La Rosa at UFC Vegas 113 fell through after she was unable to make it to the scale due to a difficult weight cut.
