Update on Santos Escobar’s WWE Status After Alumni Page Confusion

Questions started swirling about the status of Santos Escobar earlier today after fans noticed his name listed in the Alumni section of WWE’s official website rather than among the Current Superstars. The discovery immediately sparked speculation that Escobar may have quietly parted ways with WWE.

The timing of the roster change made the situation even more puzzling. Escobar had just competed at the AAA Rey de Reyes 2026 tournament final, where El Grande Americano defeated Escobar, La Parka, and the “Original” El Grande Americano in a chaotic fatal four-way match to win the ceremonial sword and secure a future AAA Mega Championship opportunity.

However, a new report from Bodyslam.net has provided some clarity about what actually happened. According to the outlet, Escobar is still under WWE contract and remains part of the company’s plans moving forward. The report notes that he is expected to continue working with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. in a storyline program for the AAA Latin American Championship on AAA television.

The report explains that Escobar’s appearance in WWE’s Alumni section is not a new development but rather a website oversight tied to his contract situation last year. The report also explained how the confusion began in the first place.

“Sources indicate to Bodyslam that Escobar is still with WWE and expected to continue in a program with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. for the AAA Latin American Championship on AAA TV.”

“Escobar has been in the alumni section since his contract expired back in October before re-signing with WWE a day later. WWE’s social team just never moved him back to the active roster page.”

Escobar originally re-signed with WWE in October 2025 shortly after his contract briefly expired. Since then, he has continued appearing across WWE programming and also returned to compete in AAA beginning in January 2026 as part of the company’s ongoing partnership with the Mexican promotion. With this update, it appears the roster listing is simply a lingering website mistake rather than a sign that Escobar has left WWE.

Do you think WWE should update their roster pages faster to avoid confusion like this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
