Updated WTC Points-table after Pakistan’s embarrassing defeat versus England, Pakistan languish at the bottom of the table: Pakistan’s Men’s National Cricket Team, under the leadership of Shan Masood, suffered an embarrassing defeat by an inning and 47 runs in the opening Test-Match of the three-match Test-Series versus England at Cricket Stadium of Multan on Friday, 11th of October.

Having opted to bat first, the home side put up a really good score of 556 runs on the board after the trip of skipper Shan Masood (151 runs), Abdullah Shafique (102 runs) and Salman Ali Agha (104*runs) slammed hundreds. For England, left-arm-spinner Jack Leach dismissed three batters in the first inning.

In reply, the tourists hammered a gigantic score of 823-7 on the board, thanks to Joe Root’s knock of 262 runs and Harry Brook’s 317 run inning. The duo of Brook and Root stitched a big partnership of 454 runs against a good-looking Pakistani bowling-attack.

In the Green Shirts’ 2nd inning, the home-side were struggling at the score of 82-6 at one-stage. However, the duo of Aamer Jamal (55* runs) and Salman Ali Agha (63 runs) played retaliatory knocks, before their team got all-out for 220 runs and lost the contest by an inning and 47 runs. Harry Brook was awarded the Man-of-The-Match award for his stupendous Triple-Century.

Updated WTC Points-Table after Pakistan’s defeat versus England in the 1st Test-Match

After securing a comfortable victory in the Multan Test-Match versus Pakistan, the Three Lions are placed 4th in the latest updated Overall Standings of ICC’s World Test Championship 2023-2025 cycle. The Englishmen have secured victories in nine encounters out of 17. Their PCT (Percentage-of-Points-Won) currently sits at 45.59.

After suffering an embarrassing defeat in the Multan Test-Match, the Shaheens have moved to the bottom of the WTC 2023-2025 Overall Standings. The Green Shirts have suffered defeats in six matches out of eight they have participated in so far. They have a very poor PCT of 16.67.

India & Australia on the other hand continue to occupy the top two positions in the points-table. India have a PCT of 74.24 while Australia’s PCT stands at 62.50.

Sri Lanka are sitting at the 3rd spot with five wins next to their name in nine contests. They have a PCT of 55.56.

The likes of South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh and the Windies occupy the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th positions respectively in the overall WTC Standings.
