Valter Walker gets first top-10 opponent at UFC Seattle

Valter Walker will continue his march to the top of the UFC heavyweight division when the promotion touches down in Seattle on March 28.

According to a report from MMA Mania reporter Alex Behunin, Walker is set for a clash with Poland’s Marcin Tybura on the card.

Tybura, who holds the No. 10 spot in the heavyweight rankings, will be Walker’s first top-10 opponent in the Octagon.

Valter Walker looks to become a top UFC heavyweight

Walker, the half brother of UFC light heavyweight contender Johnny Walker, has been on a serious tear in recent months. After losing his UFC debut to Lukasz Brzeski, he has rattled off four straight wins over Junior Tafa, Don’Tale Mayes, Kennedy Nzechukwu, and Louie Sutherland. All four victories have come by way of heel hook. That incredible run has made him both a serious prospect and fan favorite.

In Tybura, Walker will face his toughest test to date.

The former M-1 champion has been a mainstay of the UFC heavyweight top-15 for years. He has beaten many respectable opponents in that time. Highlights of his ten-year run in the Octagon include wins over Andrei Arlovski, Stefan Struve, Serghei Spivac, Ben Rothwell, Walt Harris, Blagoy Ivanov, and Tai Tuivasa.

In his last fight, he suffered a knockout loss to former PFL champion Ante Delija. However, that loss was preceded by back-to-back wins over Mick Parkin and Jhonata Diniz.

The upcoming UFC Seattle card does not yet have a main event. However, we can expect Walker vs. Marcin Tybura to be near the top of the card. The card is also expected to feature a flyweight clash between former champ Alexa Grasso and rising contender Maycee Barber.
