There is no offseason in WWE, and that is certainly true for NXT. While Tony D’Angelo is trying to destroy DarkState by himself, he could always use some help.
The February 17 episode of NXT was quite a fun show. This also included a #1 contender match for the NXT Tag Team Titles, because DarkState needed new challengers.
This week on NXT, a #1 Contenders Match for the NXT Tag Team Titles took place as The Vanity Project, represented by Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes, faced off against Hank & Tank, consisting of Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, OTM with Bronco Nima and Lucien Price, and The Culling, featuring Shawn Spears and Niko Vance.
This match went down at the end of the show’s first hour. Out of all the teams in this match, Hank and Tank were the overwhelming favorite in the NXT Arena. This hard-hitting match stretched through a commercial break, as OTM looked really strong after taking all other teams out of the ring.
This match was chaotic as all four teams fought hard to make sure their opponents didn’t get the win. At one point, all four corners had people fighting on the top rope, and it resulted in four superplexes at the same time. After a crazy finish that included Hank and Tank putting OTM through tables, the Vanity Project pulled off the win as Shawn Spears took the pinfall. This was a shocking end to a very competitive match.
The Vanity Project will face DarkState for their titles next week on NXT. We will have to see if new NXT Tag Team Champions come out of this deal. Only time will tell what happens next.
