Vinesh Phogat enters the finale of the Paris Olympic 2024

India has not had the most successful Olympics in Paris this summer; however, the 11th day has been one of India’s best days in the events with Vinesh Phogat recording history in the Olympics. Many Indian players have lost close bronze medal matches over the course of the last 10 days, especially in events like shooting and archery.

The most successful campaigner of India from the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra, who went on to win the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw, entered the track today with many hopes and huge dependency over his shoulders. The Champ did not receive any more than a single throw, which was a record in the qualification round. With an 89.34m throw, he encrypted yet another entry into the final round, which is to be scheduled on the 8th of August.

The Indian Men’s Hockey team has been another major highlight, and in the ongoing match, Harmanpreet has led India to a lead in the beginning minutes against Germany in the semi-finals. If they can win this game, they will fix India’s second silver in the Paris Olympics.

Recently, the biggest highlight has been Indian star wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who has created history as India’s first-ever wrestler to enter the Olympic finals.

Phogat started first with a Round of 16 encounter against Tokyo Olympics gold medalist wrestler Yui Susaki, who had an unbeaten record in the Olympics so far, with only 3 losses in 10 years. Phogat created history when she won the finest encounter of the women’s 50 kg freestyle wrestling.

She next entered the quarterfinals, where she had to face a weaker opponent in Oksana Livach, as the Indian wrestler smashed the Ukrainian in a befitting contest to enter the semis. The semis awaited Yusneylys Guzman, who didn’t seem the toughest among all opponents for the lady who just smacked the defending Olympic Champion. In a much-anticipated game, Vinesh thrashed her opponent 5-0 to finish her bouts and enter the Finals.

Phogat will now go on to feature in the finals tomorrow in Paris, which will be a debut for any Indian wrestler at an Olympic final. The match is to be played against the USA’s No. 1 ranked wrestler in 50 kg women’s freestyle, Sarah Hildebrandt.

The game would be a hope for all Indians, and they would watch with their heads bowed down and hands joined to see the dream come true of India securing a gold in one of the root sports the country is known for.

However, Vinesh Phogat has already assured India of their first silver in this year’s Olympics, and if fortune favors the brave Phogat, she will be her dad’s pride, as Mahavir Phogat is one of the very men who claimed that he expects Vinesh to end his desire for an Olympic gold.
