The two Stalwarts of Indian cricket Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have put on match Winning performances across the World but have never been to their neighbouring country Pakistan together. This is due to the political tension between the two countries which has been going from bad to worse over the decades. Pakistan and India last played against one another in a bialetral tournament way back in 2012-13 when Men in Green toured India for two T 20s and three one days , However both the teams have faced each other on numerous occasions in ICC events.
It is a well known fact that another ICC event “ICC champions trophy ” is all set to take place in pakistan, however Indian government has been reluctant to not send team India to Pakistan for the event ,So the big question still remains that wheather team India will participate in the tournament or a hybrid model is set to take place.
However Former Pakistani wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has urged the legendary duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to travel once to Pakistan before they bid adieu to their international career. The duo recently retired from the T 20 format after India won the T 20 World Cup in Barbados.
In his interaction with the Times of India kamran akmal said that every individual in pakistan is a follower of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
“Before retiring ‘Virat and Rohit must go to Pakistan,’ Akmal was quoted by TimesofIndia.com.”
“These two global cricket icons who travel across nations for their sport are loved by each and everyone who follows the game. Their batting skills and ability to win matches has made them immensely popular among fans worldwide. In terms of this following, the support they will receive in Pakistan will outstrip anything they have experienced elsewhere,” he further stated.
Virat Kohli has visited Pakistan in his under 19 days, however the Indian batsman has gone on to become the best batter of this generation since then. Akmal further added that if the trio of Rohit Sharma Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah visits Pakistan the fans will be delighted witnessing them.
“Now there are tons of cricket players, Virat is an idol for so many people. Throughout history, no man has ever been able to win and hold on to the World Cup like Rohit and expect to be known as a champion in Indian cricket. Also, because of his remarkable achievements in one day international matches, Bumrah is today considered as the finest fast bowler in the world. When superb athletes like Virat, Rohit and Bumrah come to Pakistan everything else becomes secondary for their avid supporters who are obsessed with them. Akmal added that Virat was not very famous when he visited Pakistan during the under-19 days.”
