Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma led the celebration at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, 4 July. The Indian team arrived at the stadium around 9 PM following a victory parade on an open-top bus along Marine Drive. Once at the Wankhede Stadium, Sharma took Kohli by the hand to the stands where they both performed some bhangra dance moves.
India arrived at the Wankhede Stadium late Thursday night following a busy day. They had arrived in New Delhi early that morning and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After completing their official duties, the Indian team took a flight on Vistara to Mumbai, where they were greeted with a special water salute upon landing at the airport.
The Indian team went all out in their celebrations, which were postponed because of heavy traffic in Mumbai. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Suryakumar Yadav enjoyed themselves fully as India celebrated with flair on the bus.
Dravid and Kohli were cheering loudly, and fans surrounded the Indian team bus. India had returned home on Thursday, first landing in New Delhi and then traveling to Mumbai. They met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi before heading to Mumbai for their celebrations.
The team was supposed to begin their celebration event around 7 PM, but it took a long time for them to get through Marine Drive because so many fans came to welcome them.
