Virat Kohli Becomes First RCB Batter to Reach 9000 T20 Runs

Virat Kohli has created yet another record in the ongoing IPL 2025. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener became the first player from the franchise to complete 9000 runs in T20 cricket during his innings against Lucknow Super Giants.

Kohli Creates History With The Bat

The landmark came after Kohli crossed the 24-run mark in the match. His 9000 T20 runs have come while playing for RCB in both the IPL and the now-defunct Champions League T20. So far, he has scored 8576 runs in IPL and the remaining in CLT20.

Kohli is also close to scoring 9000 runs in the IPL alone a feat no one has achieved yet. His average for RCB is close to 40, and his tally includes 8 centuries and 64 half-centuries, making him one of the most consistent T20 players in the world.

Kohli leads the list by a huge margin. Among others in the top five are Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, and MS Dhoni — all legends of Indian cricket along with England’s James Vince.

Kohli’s Strong IPL 2025 Performance

Before the LSG game, Kohli had already scored 548 runs in 12 matches with 7 half-centuries to his name. He is also in the Orange Cap race. RCB have won all seven matches in which Kohli has scored 50 or more this season.

RCB have made it to the playoffs, and Kohli’s performance, especially while chasing, has played a big role in their success. As the tournament enters the final stage, RCB fans will hope Kohli continues his dream run.
