Virat Kohli: In what proves to be a phenomenal-achievement, legendary Indian Batsman Virat Kohli completed the 9000 runs mark in the longest format of the game. The 35-year-old attained this remarkable achievement during team India’s ongoing 1st test-match versus New Zealand in the city of Bangalore.
With youngster Shubman Gill missing the 1st test due to a neck-injury, the Men in Blue took the brave decision of promoting Kohli to the number three-position. Although the former Indian skipper gave his wicket away cheaply to Will O’Rourke for zero runs in the 1st inning, he rebounded in a strong fashion, slamming a remarkable half-century in the 2nd inning.
Besides rejuvenating with a half-century, Kohli became just the fourth Indian batsman to score 9000 runs in Test-Cricket. This, he joined the legendary-trio of little master Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid, the three other players to have achieved the mile-stone in the five-day format.

Virat Kohli Uses A Brave Knock To Silence His Criticism
Indian fans severely criticized Kohli after he left the field for a duck in the opening inning. But for the umpteenth time, he proved his value in Indian colors by silencing his detractors with this half-century in a challenging circumstance. Regarding the game, India reacted forcefully to New Zealand’s massive first-innings score. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal for 35 runs, India’s deficit was much reduced by the brilliant half-centuries that Kohli, Rohit, and Sarfaraz Khan smashed. India was 214 for two at the time of writing, with Sarfaraz and Kohli each scoring 62 runs.
