The past year or so has witnessed a buzz on the internet around Virat Kohli settling down in London. Throughout Team India’s most recent challenges, Kohli has been spotted going back and forth to London quite a number of times after fulfilling his cricketing obligations. However, as the Test series against New Zealand by Team India ended, Kohli remained back to the country to ring in his 36th birthday with wife Anushka Sharma. Even though the Indian team faced a shameful whitewash of 0-3 against the Kiwis, Kohli was pictured cheerful and smiling, posing, and interacting with camera crew at his restaurant chai One8 Commune.
Social media has recently produced a few pictures and clips of Virat and Anushka, apparently kick-starting the birthday celebrations for the star on the 36th year of his life.
This year has however not been the best year for Kohli in terms of his form and personal achievements despite his country’s triumph over the 2024 T20 World Cup title. The legendary batsman has not been able to score runs in any format of the game that he has played. Even during the T20 World Cup, the run machine could not perform to expectation, save for the lone final against South Africa.
In the last Test series, which was against New Zealand, Kohli had a total run score of less than 100 runs. In fact, few have doubts about his further presence in the team. While Virat has already retired from the T20 international format, there are many who doubt that he will remain in India’s Test squad for long.
Kohli has already been selected in the squad for the upcoming tour of Australia. In this tour, Rohit Sharma’s men are likely to play 5 Test matches. It isn’t a secret among his fans that Kohli is in love with Australia, but his form does not look very good at the moment.
There are optimistic analysts who feel that Kohli will manage to get things going and will be India’s main contributor with the bat in Australia. However, there are those who ponder the issue of Test cricket retirement in the event that the iconic batsman fails to right the situation.
