Virat Kohli joins this new elite list and becomes only active cricketer to do so

Virat Kohli has achieved yet another remarkable feat in his illustrious career as the ‘Delhi boy’ becomes the first Indian player to score more than 1000 boundaries in Test cricket. Kohli was bestowed upon the prestigious achievement in one day internationals and in test cricket also he reached the four dight milestone when India beat Bangladesh in the second test in Kanpur. Even though Virat has a whopping count of 1302 fours in ODI cricket, he was able to achieve 1001 fours mark in Test cricket during his stay at the crease on Day 5 of the second test against Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium on Tuesday.

As a result, Kohli also makes the list of Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting etc. who have more than 1000 fours in ODIs and in Test as well. The surprising factor however, is that Virat is the only one who is currently active as a batter. All others included in this list are already retired once

Player | Boundaries in Tests | Boundaries in ODIs

Sachin Tendulkar | 2058 | 2016

Kumar Sangakkara | 1491 | 1385

Ricky Ponting | 1509 | 1231

Virat Kohli | 1001 | 1302

Mahela Jayawardene | 1387 | 1119

Chris Gayle | 1046 | 1128

Virender Sehwag | 1233 | 1132

Brian Lara | 1559 | 1042.

It seems that Kohli had several match bats, and after the conclusion of the Kanpur Test, he decided to present one of them – signed – to Shakib Al Hasan, the all-rounder of Bangladesh, who is likely to retire in the nearest future, after winning the home contest of the series against the guests with the score 2-0 in Tests.

‘This was composer Shakib’s last tour with the team until his retirement. He has, however, made it absolutely certain that he is not going to participate in the home series against South Africa unless there is a guarantee from the ongoing caretaker government of Bangladesh regarding his exit from the country.’

After the second Test was over with India winning by seven wickets, Kohli was seen approaching the Bangladesh bench and passing his bat to the great Bangladeshi player cricketer.

Both of them were also seen sharing good moments and laughter as Shakib was engaged in some shadow practice with the bat.
