Virat Kohli gifts free runs to Delhi Capitals
Kohli is regarded as one of the best fielders in world cricket, and he rarely makes any mistakes. He is mostly seen charged up on the field and keeps running around the ground to save every possible run.
Kohli’s catching efficiency is also very good, and he is known for taking insane catches to dismiss the batters of the opposite team. This all has been made possible only because of the level of fitness he has maintained.
However, a different version of Virat Kohli was seen during the match between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru as he made a rare fielding blunder, which cost RCB four crucial runs.
The incident happened on the first ball of the 19th over. Delhi Capitals batsman Vipraj Nigam drove a delivery from left-arm pacer Yash Dayal toward the cover region, and Tristan Stubbs, who was at the non-striker’s end, took off for a single.
However, Tristan Stubbs was rightly sent back, as there was no run. Rajat Patidar, who was quick to collect the ball, fired a throw at the non-striker’s end but missed the stumps.
Virat Kohli then came in running from deep mid-wicket to stop the ball, but he took his eyes off it and misfielded. This led to the ball going for a four and DC getting free runs.

He’s without doubt one of the most motivated players – Danny Morrison on Virat Kohli
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the match, the cricketer-turned-commentator Danny Morrison said that Virat Kohli is one of the most motivated players he has ever seen. He stated:
“He’s without doubt one of the most motivated players to ever have played really. And you think about the great Sachin Tendulkar and he said he stalls out and that’s what he’s about. I want to challenge that and that’s the carrot there and the goal, the aspiration to do really well.
“And he is. And he’s a character, right? He’s larger than life. Never won it. In fact, both these sides have never won the title. So there’s all that intrigue around it as well. So going there and he’s a Delhi boy. So the edge to the whole rev up of it.”
While talking about the Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match during the same interaction, Anil Kumble stated:
“Nothing other than just that same kind of approach from both teams. Delhi is hot. I’m sure it’ll be hotter inside the arena. Because both teams will be looking for those crucial two points which will take them closer to that playoff. It’s as good as picking up four points because both of them are in the top four in the table and you’d like to get slightly ahead. And you want to finish in the top two. And that’s something I’m sure both these teams will be looking at.”
