India won the T20 World Cup finals against South Africa by 7 runs after a thrilling face off between the two teams at Barbados. The men in blue went undefeated this season, winning all their matches and taking the trophy home.
Virat Kohli’s wholesome statement on India’s support staff
Not a lot of Team India fans are aware of Raghavendra’s role as a “throwdown specialist” for the Indian team. Raghu has the exceptional skill of providing ‘throwdowns’ to players in practice sessions. This helps them in adapting to the pace and bounce of pitches in countries such as Australia and South Africa.
The support staff is not only helpful but also appreciated by veteran players in the team. Virat Kohli, being the humble and down to earth man that he is, made sure to speak positively about Raghavendra.
Virat Kohli once said, “facing Raghu’s 150kmph deliveries in the nets makes the fastest bowlers seem like medium pacers during matches.”
Virat Kohli credits Raghu, the specialist in throwdowns, for the team’s development in facing fast bowlers since 2013. He mentions that practising against Raghu beforehand makes you feel like there is ample time during the actual game.
