Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might look for a new captain during the 2025 mega auctions. There have been rumours that if KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant or Shreyas Iyer enter the mega auctions, RCB might go all in for them.
A day before the deadline to submit the list of retentions, rumours are also circulating that since Faf du Plessis will most likely not take the lead and Virat Kohli might take over the role back again. A source from RCB has informed that they have not decided on the captain and that a call will be made after the mega auctions.
“We did have a conversation about the future. For now, looking at the past few seasons and upcoming auction, we need to build our team. There is no surety over who will lead the team. However, if required, we may ask Virat to do the honours. It depends on the auction and the players we rope in. A call will be taken on captaincy only after the auction and not before,” said the source.
