Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment as the head coach finished with a 3-0 series win against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. As veteran players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have taken their retirements from the format, Suryakumar Yadav was selected as the captain of the team. India won all the three T20Is which was like a present for him in his first-ever bilateral series. However, with the 3-match T20I series completed, all the focus will now be the 3-match ODI series starting from 2 August.
It was earlier reported that both Kohli and Rohit would take a break after winning the T20 World Cup, However Gambhir wanted them to be a part of the squad and convinced both of them to join the series. Since they are to give their appearance, both of them have arrived Sri Lanka one week ahead of the 1st ODI.
During on e of his training sessions, Kohli was shadow practicing in a room filled in presence of his teammates when one of his fan called him ‘Chokli’. Kohli got visibly upset as it was clearly visible through his facial expressions.
Kohli gave the fan a serious look, and said “not here”. The video is currently going viral with lots of re-shares on social media, but some users have called it ‘fake’.
