Visit Charlotte Motor Speedway Year Round

In Concord, Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) is Cabarrus County’s premiere motorsports destination for families, fans and thrill seekers alike. But while race weekend is often the focus for visitors, the tours at Charlotte Motor Speedway give guests year-round ways to enjoy the track.

We spoke with Babette Huitt, Tour Manager at CMS, to learn more about the exciting experiences that await visitors — and how to take full advantage of them all year long.

Go Beyond the Grandstands

The all-access Feel the Thrill Tour is the perfect place to start your visit, Huitt says: “Guests enjoy a rolling, story-filled journey through all three tracks: The Dirt Track, NASCAR track and zMAX Dragway, learning how the tracks came to life and the moments that shaped its legacy.”

The tour’s highlight is an exhilarating van ride around the 1.5-mile oval to experience its 24-degree banking, which gives the full thrill of the Speedway from the best seat in the house — and visitors will have a photo-worthy moment in Winner’s Circle, the same spot where the winning car is covered with confetti during the victory celebration after the race.

Those looking for a more relaxed pace will enjoy the Infield Experience. “This option takes you through the heart of the facility with the same engaging stories and behind-the-scenes access — just without the track ride,” says Huitt.

Make the Most of Your Visit

New to Charlotte Motor Speedway? Huitt’s top tip is to arrive a little early to make the most of your visit. A pit stop at the Gift Shop gives you a chance to check out exclusive track merchandise and pick up a souvenir before your excitement begins.

And plan ahead with reservations at The Speedway Club, which serves lunch and dinner with an incredible panoramic view of the track. “It’s the perfect way to soak in the atmosphere before or after your tour,” Huitt explains.

For returning fans, Huitt has a reminder, too: the Speedway is never the same from day to day. “There’s always something happening around the facility — cars testing, driving experiences on track, crews working, events being set up — so every visit feels alive,” she notes.

That means every visit feels unique, and you’re likely to encounter new surprises. “Bring family and friends along so you can share those unexpected moments together,” she encourages.
